The Departure
By Roberta Angela Dee

It came as a surprise
when she looked in my eyes --
Her good bye.
I hoped it wasn't true
but deep inside I knew
Her reasons.
The pony within departs with the wind.
She leaves to fill a part
Of her lonely heart
I'd avoided.

Her tack lies on the bed,
So many things unsaid --
Her good bye.
Each pony seeks its course,
the same as any horse
Unbridled.

We each move on to realize a dream
or seek a more compatible scene.
So, do forgive the muse that stole her heart
Without knowing why she must depart.

Her tack lies on the bed,
So many things unsaid --
Her good bye.
Each pony seeks its course,
the same as any horse
Unsaddled.
